Purpose:

Duties and Responsibilities:

• In conjunction with Staff and Resident input, develop a Music Therapy program to include groups and 1:1 sessions which is congruent for the needs and interests of the Residents.
• Evaluate the overall effectiveness of the program and, as necessary, modify the program to meet Resident needs and interests.
• Interview and assess Residents according to established policy, and subsequently, include assessment information into the medical record. Regularly update the assessment and plan. From the assessment, develop a plan consistent with the Residents’ needs and interests, Residents’ Care Plan, and the physician’s orders.
• Attend and/or contribute to Resident Care Plan Meeting, when appropriate.
• Document the Resident’s progress and participation in Music Therapy interventions according to established policy and procedures.
• Form respectful and therapeutic relationships with residents, maintaining awareness of resident’s needs and interests, safety and appropriate boundaries.
• Under the supervision/approval of Director of Activities, purchase and provide supplies as needed for programming and for use by the residents within budgeting guidelines 
• Present in-services to Nursing and Inter-Disciplinary staff, regarding the Music Therapy Programs as needed.
• Provide ongoing communication to supervisor and other disciplines regarding daily music therapy interventions and programs.
• Ability to work varied hours which may include evenings, weekends and holidays
• Committed to working with residents and families to develop and implement strategies that promote person-centered care
